Big Corn Island Beach

In my last posting on companies offering Nicaragua tours you could consider for your next Nicaragua vacation, I wrote about a tour called The Nicaragua Volcanoes and Islands tour by GAP Adventure Tours Company.  That tour is a great introduction to Nicaragua, but you might be looking for something a little more relaxing.

The Nicaragua Shipwrecked tour by GAP is for independent travellers who just want to unwind, do some fishing, snorkelling and just plain chilling out.  This Nicaragua tour is for 7 nights, 8 days on the Corn Islands.  You’ll spend time on both Little Corn Island and Big Corn Island, located in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Nicaragua. Both islands offer unspoiled white sand beaches, coral reefs to explore which are teeming with underwater marine life.  This Nicaragua tour package costs $510 US.

The Nicaragua Shipwrecked tour offers you five scuba diving tours or three fishing trips.  You will have the use of snorkelling equipment if you don’t bring your own.  Breakfast and dinner are included at the Casa Iguana Hotel on Little Corn Island.  The accommodation is simple with shared bathroom facilities.  Bring along about $80 more for your other meals.  Meals include the local Nicaraguan cuisine and lots of seafood and lobster.

After fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, snorkelling or scuba diving, you can chill out in a hammock strung up between two palm trees and read, sleep or watch the breathtaking sunsets in Nicaragua.  This is the ultimate in a tropical island paradise.

The other Nicaragua tour offered by GAP  is the Costa Rica and Nicaragua Experience tour which begins in San Jose, Costa Rica and takes you to Nicaragua, to San Juan del Sur, Ometepe Island, Granada, and then you take a boat ride to the Solentiname Archipelago at the mouth of the San Juan River.  The Solentiname Archipelago is a group of islands in Lake Nicaragua, wonderful for nature lovers, artists, bird watchers and history enthusiasts.  From here, you will take a boat to San Carlos, along the Rio Frio to Los Chiles in Costa Rica.  This is a 15 day Nicaragua tour which will cost you $695 US.  The hotels are simple and there are no meals included in this package tour.
