If you are booking your Nicaragua vacation, you will need to know about banking information.  Travelers checks are accepted at some of the banks – see below.  The following is a list of banks in Nicaragua and their phone and fax numbers.  You can find ATM machines in the larger cities of Nicaragua, the airport in Managua, gas station convenience stores and Inter shopping malls.  However, ATMs in Nicaragua are somewhat difficult to find further afield than the larger cities.

It is always best when traveling to exchange your money at a bank or an official currency exchange office.

You can change your American Express traveler’s cheques at the Banco de Finanzas branches around Nicaragua.  It is possible that you will have to show your purchase receipts when exchanging your traveler’s cheques.

BAC is one of the most banks that provide various services for tourists.  They exchange traveler’s cheques, have the Cirrus debit system in place, and offer cash advances on your credit card.
