When you travel to Nicaragua, you’ll meet the delightful children of Nicaragua. They seem to be happy, in spite of the economic conditions of their lives and country. They might even pose for a photo for you like these two little ones.

I photographed this pensive young woman in Nicaragua. She sold jewelery in the Parque Colon in Granada.
Judging by her young age, she was born after all the troubles of Nicaragua. Will Nicaragua tourism bring a bright future full of hope to the young generation of Nicaragua? Will the “trickle down” effect hold true?
There is currently a high unemployment rate in Nicaragua and it is one of the poorest countries in Central America. Tourism is one of its biggest industries. However, everywhere I went, I did not see many tourists. It ...

Photo Series on the People of Nicaragua
I wanted to add some of my photographs of the people of Nicaragua because while I was there I took many photographs. How better to describe the people of a country, other than photographing them? A picture is worth a thousand words, they say. I guess I love photographing people because I love them! Sometimes I try to take a secret photograph when the person is unaware that I am photographing them. These are often the best photographs of people. Other times, you just ...

When I visited Granada I had lunch at the Casa San Franciso Hotel, Restaurant and Bar. The lunch was delightful and I checked around the hotel and it looks like another great hotel in Granada to stay at. The Casa San Francisco is owned by Terry Leary, Nancy and John Bergman. It is located at Desde el Convento de San Francisco, Calle Corral #207, in the centre of old Nicaragua, close to everything you would like to see in Granada.
This wonderful hotel in Granada is clean, with ...

The beautiful city of Granada in Nicaragua is one of the oldest cities in the Americas and is well known for its lovingly restored Colonial architecture. The city was settled in 1524 by the Spanish and still has many of the original buildings reflecting its rich Spanish history. When you are visiting Nicaragua, you must not miss the chance to visit this city. Granada is located on Lake Nicaragua and only 70 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. Endearingly, it is known as “Gran Sultana del Gran Lago” ...

Many people ask if Nicaragua is a safe place for traveling to. There does not seem to be a great influx of tourists to the country because people fear that Nicaragua is still at war. It’s not as if one hears about Nicaragua in the news frequently. The last thing people heard about Nicaragua in the news was that it was at war. However, Nicaragua’s war end in the late 1970s and has since become a peaceful democratic country. Nicaragua’s tourist infrastructure is there, but it needs more time to ...

Catarina is a town near Masaya, Nicaragua which overlooks the Apoyo Lagoon. Catarina is famous for its plant growing nurseries due to the rich soil.
Near the Lake, you will find a small market place where you can buy local artisan crafts and souvenirs and restaurants. During the weekend, it’s a very popular place for families and friend to go – to the Apoyo Lagoon Viewpoint. The Apoyo Lagoon is actually a lake formed from an ancient volcano. You’ll get a great view here and be able to buy some souvenirs ...
