Something you must not miss seeing on your tour of Nicaragua is its lake, Lake Nicaragua (Cocibolca), one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world, besides the Great Lakes in North America. When I first saw the Lake, I thought it was the ocean because the water was rough and there were white caps on the waves. It seems also that the early explorers thought it was the sea as well. Before I begin telling you about tourism in Nicaragua, I will be presenting you with some facts about this country, both historical, geographical, and maybe a little political (but not much). It’s good to know something about a country and people you intend to visit. Instead of visiting a country and playing the part of the naïve tourist, you can be more open to a new culture and new things and will return from your holiday more enriched by the experience.
