Sustainable Tourism in Nicaragua

The environmental impact of tourism, a rapidly growing industry for Nicaragua and the other nations of Central America is becoming increasingly obvious, but can seem somewhat remote to the individual tourist on vacation. However, traveling by airplane to a destination has been identified as having an effect on global warming. The construction of resorts also contributes by destroying the habitats of the indigenous people and the natural environment.

Survivor Comes to Nicaragua

As you are know doubt aware, Survivor: Nicaragua! has arrived on TV. It’s the 21st season of the show and the people at CBC couldn’t have picked a better location for the TV show. I’ve watched the show a couple of times(mostly to watch the scenery) even though it’s not my cup of tea, so to speak. Fire Trucks Donated to Nicaragua

The latest humanitarian effort for Nicaragua includes a donation of new firetrucks to the country where there is a desperately short supply of firetrucks. These trucks are coming from fire departments in Prince Rupert and Skagway, Alaska. The fire trucks were sold at a reduced price and the money was collected by fund raising for Nicaragua. Fund raising for Nicaragua is done by concerned people and humanitarian groups who know of the situation of the economy of Nicaragua and do what they can to help the people …

The Economy of Nicaragua

Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America and is considered a “recovering economy.”  This is due to a series of both natural and man-made disasters.  Natural disasters that have disabled the economy include a devastating earthquake in 1972 .  Man made disasters, the Nicaraguan Civil war and the years of political instability,  (and what is war, if not a disaster?), have also broken and weakened the economy of Nicaragua.
