Traveling to Managua

We are leaving for Managua, Nicaragua in a little less than two months and have been doing research on the city, hotels, tourist sites, and restaurants. Managua is situated on Lago de Managua.  Managua has been described as vibrant, bustling and chaotic with an interesting and not so calm history. However, it offers lots of entertainment, diversity and definitely things to do.

Banks in Nicaragua

If you are booking your Nicaragua vacation, you will need to know about banking information.  Travelers checks are accepted at some of the banks – see below.  The following is a list of banks in Nicaragua and their phone and fax numbers.  You can find ATM machines in the larger cities of Nicaragua, the airport in Managua, gas station convenience stores and Inter shopping malls.  However, ATMs in Nicaragua are somewhat difficult to find further afield than the larger cities.

Nicaragua Travel Tours

I’ve been searching around for tours to Nicaragua so if you are interested in Nicaragua tours as your first introduction to Nicaragua, it’s a great way to go for the Nicaragua “newbie”.  I only managed to find three Nicaragua tours three from GAP Adventures, the Great Adventure People in the travel agencies.  It would seem that although Nicaragua is ready for tourism, travel companies have not yet jumped on board full force as they have with other destinations.  Even in talking with many people, their questions are, “Is Nicaragua safe?” …
